The Bluegrass United Bluehawks waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with two straight wins but they left with three. They came out on top against Cincinnati Trailblazers HomeSchool by a score of 53-44. For Bluegrass United, this counts as revenge for the 64-61 loss the Trailblazers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in November of 2023.
Bluegrass United's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Caleb Burnett, who scored 20 points. Burnett is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Anderson, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.
Cincinnati Trailblazers HomeSchool lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Elias Strasser, who scored 17 points along with two steals. Joseph Bradley was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with seven rebounds.
Bluegrass United's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-12. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.7 points per game. As for Cincinnati Trailblazers HomeSchool, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-12.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bluegrass United will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on the Commanders at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Washington County presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Bluehawks in Kentucky (the Commanders are ranked 49th, while the Bluehawks are ranked 192nd). Cincinnati Trailblazers HomeSchool is on the road again on Tuesday and plays the Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on February 6th.
