Centennial hasn't had much luck against Wellington recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Eagles will head out on the road to take on the Wolverines at 7:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Centennial 3, Wellington 1.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Centennial is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They won by a run and slipped past Palm Beach Central 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Eagles have posted since March 29th.

Hailey Brereton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Centennial secured the win behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Kylie Coblentz, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Wellington had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.2 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Indians a 13-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Wolverines, who have now won nine games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Tori Payne made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Payne was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kaylee Riles, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Angelina Baronci was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Wellington always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Vero Beach only posted an OBP of .167.
Centennial has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Wellington, they pushed their record up to 19-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Centennial has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Wellington struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Centennial might still be hurting after the 9-0 defeat they got from Wellington when the teams last played back in February. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
