The Cocke County Fighting Cocks lost against the Northview Academy Cougars back in November of 2020, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Cocke County took a 52-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Northview Academy. While losing is never fun, Cocke County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 65th, while Northview Academy is ranked 15th).
Several Fighting Cocks players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Karmine Carmichael, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Carmichael is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Blakelyn Clevenger, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds and six assists.
Cocke County's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Northview Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cocke County will be home for the holidays to greet Cosby at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Northview Academy will be home for the holidays to greet Knoxville Central at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Knoxville Central has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Northview Academy will arrive with four straight victories.
