The Swink Lions struggled with offensive rebounds on Saturday (the Cheyenne Wells Tigers had nine more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Swink took a 47-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cheyenne Wells. While losing is never fun, Swink can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 198th, while Cheyenne Wells is ranked 43rd).
Swink lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Cort Larrew, who scored 12 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Larrew has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Paolucci, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and two blocks.
Cheyenne Wells was led to victory by Corey Hill and Carson Noe. Hill dropped a double-double on 16 points and 15 rebounds, while Noe dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. Hill is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Zach Dickey, who scored eight points.
Swink has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season. As for Cheyenne Wells, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-2.
Swink will head out on the road to take on Walsenburg at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Cheyenne Wells, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Cheraw at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
