On Saturday, the Huntington Highlanders faced the Morgantown Mohigans in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Huntington was dealt a 98-57 defeat at the hands of the Mohigans. Huntington's loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Huntington lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jayden Clark, who scored 17 points. Mikey Johnson was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with two steals.
Huntington's defeat dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Morgantown, the win (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 16-1.
Huntington will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against the Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on February 5th. Capital will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps West Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 78th, while the Highlanders are ranked 16th). As for Morgantown, they will be playing at home against the Big Red at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
