The Dysart Demons entered their tilt with the Cortez Colts with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Dysart strolled past Cortez with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 74-56. Given Dysart's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 44th, while Cortez is ranked 165th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Dysart's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nate Morales, who scored 20 points along with six assists and six rebounds. Kye Brown was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with eight rebounds and five assists.
Dysart pushed their record up to 16-3 with that win, which was their eighth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.8 points per game. As for Cortez, they now have a losing record at 8-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dysart will take on Coronado at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Coronado will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Cortez, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Apache Junction at 5:30 p.m. on January 18th. Apache Junction is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.
