Tonasket is 1-9 against Brewster since April of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. Tonasket will face off against Brewster at 11:00 a.m. Tonasket is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
Tonasket made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Republic, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Tonasket put the hurt on Republic with a sharp 21-3 victory on Thursday. Tonasket's hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Isaiah Spangler and Bradon Prock made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Spangler struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Prock tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. At the plate, Spangler went 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, four runs, and five RBI, while Prock scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Spangler also hit a double, marking his first of the season.
In other batting news, Tonasket got a massive performance out of Tanner Tompkins, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Tompkins also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Gunner Sasse, who scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Tonasket always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .707. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Brewster entered their tilt with Omak on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They had just enough and edged out the Pioneers 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Bears have posted since April 13, 2024.
Brewster's record now sits at 3-1. As for Tonasket, the victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-3.
Tonasket took their win against Brewster when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 12-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for Tonasket since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
