The East Wake Warriors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their eighth straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 59-38 walloping at the hands of West Johnston. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat East Wake has suffered since November 17, 2023.
East Wake's loss came despite strong showings from Kristen Ashe and Cadyn Edwards. Ashe scored ten points along with six steals, while Edwards scored nine points along with 15 rebounds and three steals.
East Wake bumped their record down to 1-10 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 25.3 points per game. As for West Johnston, their victory bumped their record up to 4-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. East Wake will take on Fike at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Fike presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than East Wake in North Carolina (Fike is ranked 129th, while East Wake is ranked 473rd). As for West Johnston, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Smithfield-Selma at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Smithfield-Selma comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 21 points in their last ten games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
