The Franklinton Red Rams will take on the Rocky Mount Gryphons at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Franklinton has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Last Wednesday, Franklinton came up short against Wakefield and fell 73-64. The loss continues a trend for the Red Rams in their matchups with the Wolverines: they've now lost eight in a row.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Kirby Ransom, who went 6 for 12 on his way to 22 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Zymir Lipscomb, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 14 points and four steals.
Even though they lost, Franklinton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Rocky Mount posted their closest win since January 16, 2024 on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 58-55 victory over Roanoke Rapids. The Gryphons' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
Rocky Mount's win came from a few key players Franklinton will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Anthony Jones, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 16 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Brelyn Moses, who posted 27 points.
Rocky Mount has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.0 points per game. As for Franklinton, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-8.
