Antioch and McGavock are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2017, but not for long. Having just played yesterday, the Antioch Bears will get right back to it and host the McGavock Raiders at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th. McGavock took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Antioch, who comes in off a win.
In what's become a running theme this season, Antioch gave their fans yet another huge victory on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 74-40 victory over Hunters Lane at home. Given Antioch's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 85th, while Hunters Lane is ranked 358th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for McGavock, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 67-50 loss to Overton on Thursday. McGavock has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Antioch has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. As for McGavock, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Antioch against McGavock in their previous meeting on January 9th as the team secured a 67-22 win. Will Antioch repeat their success, or does McGavock have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
