The Elgin Wildcats's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Caldwell Hornets at 6:15 p.m. on December 19th.
Last Friday, Elgin was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 28-27 to Pflugerville Connally.
Meanwhile, Caldwell's ten-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They breezed by Austin Achieve at home to the tune of 65-5. Caldwell's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Caldwell's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Riley Broaddus, who scored 16 points. Those 16 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Jones, who scored 12 points.
Elgin bumped their record down to 5-13 with that loss, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.5 points per game. As for Caldwell, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-13-1.
Elgin didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Caldwell in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, but they still walked away with a 50-45 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Caldwell's Jae Mathis, who scored 30 points. Now that she won't be playing on Tuesday, will it be that much easier for Elgin to walk away with another win? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
