The St. Pius X Sartans waltzed into their game on Saturday with seven straight wins but they left with eight. They put the hurt on Bloomfield with a sharp 44-24 victory. St. Pius X has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 20 points or more this season.
When it comes to explaining why Bloomfield lost, one person who can't be blamed is Aliya Quintana. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 15 points and 15 rebounds. Quintana is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season.
St. Pius X's victory bumped their record up to 13-3. As for Bloomfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Pius X will take on Belen at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Belen will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New Mexico Rankings (they are ranked 86th, while St. Pius X is ranked 13th). As for Bloomfield, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Gallup at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
