Orland extended their losing streak to six on Tuesday, dropping them down to 4-11. They came up short against the Oroville Tigers, falling 19-8. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-3 on Monday.
Rylie Bryant led a balanced group of hitters, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game. Another player making a difference was Gemma Romano, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
As for Oroville, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-16. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.5 runs over those games.
On Oroville's side, Kaeli McDonald made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off only one hit. McDonald was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her five plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Elise Roosevelt, who got on base in four of her six plate appearances with four runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Jenessa Igot was another key player, getting on base in four of her six plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Orland is set to take on their familiar foe Gridley at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Oroville will square off against rival Las Plumas at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
