The Borger Bulldogs are taking a road trip to take on the Caprock Longhorns at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Borger has four straight victories, Caprock has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Borger barely beat San Jacinto Christian Academy the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Borger was the clear victors by a 10-1 margin over San Jacinto Christian Academy on Monday. That nine run margin sets a new team best for the Bulldogs this season.

Tony Phillips made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Lincoln Buchanan was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Mason Mangum was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Caprock fell victim to Paschal and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They came up short against the Panthers, falling 10-0.
Borger's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Caprock, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.
Borger's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's match. Borger has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Caprock, though, as they've been averaging only 0.8 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Borger continue to outrun the ball?
Borger came up short against Caprock in their previous matchup back in February of 2022, falling 9-5. Can Borger avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
