Freeland has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Garber Dukes at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Freeland knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matches -- so hopefully Garber likes a good challenge.
Last Tuesday, Freeland faced Chelsea in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Freeland snuck past Chelsea with a 67-61 victory. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Garber has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They received a tough blow on Friday as they fell 44-26 to Frankenmuth. While losing is never fun, Garber can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 198th, while Frankenmuth is ranked 26th).
Freeland pushed their record up to 8-1 with that win, which was their 11th straight at home. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 26.18 points. As for Garber, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-4 record this season.
Freeland took their win against Garber in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 by a conclusive 78-52. The rematch might be a little tougher for Freeland since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
