Kayme Elrod spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and five unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Irelynn Lozano, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February. Kaitlyn Ramirez also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
Meanwhile, Colorado waltzed into their game on Thursday with four straight wins... but they left with five. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Lions a 20-0 shutout. Considering the Wolves have won 18 contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Mia Obenhaus made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Obenhaus was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one triple.
In other batting news, Bryanna Munoz was incredible, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 4-for-5. Aj Goodney was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Colorado was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .367 or higher in five consecutive matchups.
Anson's record now sits at 9-7. As for Colorado, their record is now 22-7-1.
Anson might still be hurting after the 15-0 defeat they got from Colorado in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
