Basketball Recap: Dutch Fork Makes It Seven in a Row at Home

Dutch Fork entered their tilt with White Knoll on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They managed a 47-42 win over the White Knoll Timberwolves. Given the Silver Foxes' advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked fourth, while the Timberwolves are ranked 36th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Dutch Fork got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Michaela Fairwell out in front who posted 19 points in addition to six rebounds and three blocks. The dominant performance gave Fairwell a new career-high in blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Claire Howard, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine boards.

Several Timberwolves players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Shaelyn Hayes, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds. Hayes is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Sidney White, who put up 12 points and five steals.

Dutch Fork pushed their record up to 13-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. As for White Knoll, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-6.

Dutch Fork will head out to square off against Lexington at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Lexington's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven games. As for White Knoll, they will host Irmo at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
