On Tuesday, Halifax Academy beat Fayetteville Academy 45-38.
Halifax Academy was led to victory by Karson Ricks and Hayden Hilton. Ricks scored 17 points along with 5 steals, while Hilton dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Hilton has scored at least 25% of Halifax Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddy Bethel, who scored 2 points along with 7 rebounds and 4 steals.
Despite the loss, Fayetteville Academy still got an impressive performance from Riley Duchon, who scored 22 points. Duchon scored a full 57.9% of Fayetteville Academy's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Mary Reese Barkman, who scored 8 points.
The win got Halifax Academy back to even at 2-2. As for Fayetteville Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Halifax Academy will take on Pungo Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Pungo Christian Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 33 last Tuesday. As for Fayetteville Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Wayne Country Day at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
