Eleanor Funke made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Klarissa Cervera also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
Meanwhile, Lane Tech owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Monday. They blew past Leyden 7-0. Considering the Champions have won ten contests by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
The result came thanks to Grace Thornley's shutout, as she gave up just five hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Gianna Phillips was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Segura, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI.
Lane Tech is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Lincoln Park, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Lincoln Park hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Lane Tech struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Lincoln Park suffered a grim 11-0 defeat to Lane Tech when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
