After a string of three wins, the Holbrook Roadrunners's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of Winslow by a score of 48-45. Holbrook found out winning isn't easy when you're outrebounded 18 to 11 on offense.
When it comes to explaining why Holbrook lost, one person who can't be blamed is Tyler Tapaha. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 25 points and ten rebounds. Tapaha has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Caleb Cummings was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with two steals.
Isaac David was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 23 rebounds for Winslow. David hasn't dropped below nine rebounds for six straight games. Another player making a difference was Lythel Baker, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.
Holbrook's defeat dropped their record down to 15-8. As for Winslow, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season.
Holbrook will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Snowflake at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Holbrook focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Friday. As for Winslow, they will head out on the road to take on Show Low at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Arizona (Winslow is ranked 150th, while Show Low is ranked 142nd).
