BRYSON CITY, N.C. - A big 35-point second quarter helped carry the Maroon Devils to a 48-6 victory over Cherokee (N.C.) on Saturday.
Swain County scored on five rushing touchdowns in the quarter, including one by
Taylor Oros.
After taking the lead on a
Kobe Toineeta touchdown run in the first quarter, SC led 48-0 at the half.
Spencer McCoy played well for the Bryson City school in the victory. He ran for two touchdowns. He has now scored 13 touchdowns on the season.
Cherokee's only touchdown came on a 34-yard run by Jason McMillan in the third quarter.
Coming into the game the Maroon Devils had allowed 21.7 points per game this year.
The win brought Swain County's winning streak to three games.
In a 1A Conference 1 game next week Swain County (6-2) takes on Andrews, and Cherokee (0-8) will go up against Rosman also in a 1A Conference 1 game.
