The Lake Brantley Patriots will face off against the Boone Braves at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Lake Brantley is coming into the contest hot, having won their last seven games.
On Monday, Lake Brantley sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-8 victory over Foundation Academy.
Belle Rosales made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and five unearned) runs off eight hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI.
In other batting news, Rylin Sprague was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Auriana Turner was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Lake Brantley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Boone fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Seminole on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Seminoles by a score of 3-2. Having soared to a lofty 23 runs in the game before, the Braves couldn't push the score so high this time.
Boone saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emma Wolfgramm, who went 1-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
Lake Brantley's win was their 12th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Boone, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-9.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Lake Brantley hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1 home runs per game. However, it's not like Boone struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.7 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Lake Brantley skirted past Boone 5-3 when the teams last played back in April of 2016. Do the Patriots have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Braves turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
