This season hasn't been kind to the Preble Shawnee Arrows, who are still winless after their sixth game. Their tough 65-44 defeat to Arcanum on Thursday might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Preble Shawnee can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 773rd, while Arcanum is ranked 185th).
Despite the loss, Preble Shawnee still got an impressive performance from Isabella Agee, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds. Those 18 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Sargent-eckert, who scored eight points.
Leading Arcanum to victory were Alexis Gibbons and Caroline Long. Gibbons scored 20 points along with three steals, while Long dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. Those 20 points set a new season-high mark for her. Rylee Leeper was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five steals.
Preble Shawnee has fallen quite a ways from their 20-7 record last season and are now at 0-6. As for Arcanum, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.
Preble Shawnee will be home for the holidays to greet Franklin Monroe at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Arcanum, they will head out on the road to face off against Bethel at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
