In other batting news, Neuse Charter got a massive performance out of Hayden Jones, who scored five runs and stole a base while going 5-for-5. What's more, Jones posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Knox Gipe was another key player, scoring four runs while going 5-for-5.
Neuse Charter kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 28 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 3.3 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 10.
Neuse Charter's victory ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-10. As for Lakewood, their loss dropped their record down to 7-9.
Everything went Lakewood's way against Neuse Charter in their previous matchup back in March, as Lakewood made off with a 17-6 win. Will the Leopards repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
