The Mojave Rattlers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their seventh straight loss. They suffered a tough 52-28 defeat at the hands of Canyon Springs. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Mojave has suffered since December 4, 2023.
Despite the defeat, Mojave had strong showings from Jac'omoire Fahie, who scored nine points, and Brashiya Briskey, who scored nine points along with three steals. That's the first time this season that Briskey grabbed two or more steals.
Leading Canyon Springs to victory were Aniya Biggs and Kenijae Cherry. Biggs scored ten points along with eight rebounds and six steals, while Cherry dropped a double-double on 14 points and 14 rebounds. Cherry is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jasmine Legardy, who scored four points along with 11 rebounds and two steals.
Mojave's loss dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Canyon Springs, their victory bumped their record up to 13-7.
Mojave will head out on the road to challenge Durango at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nevada (Durango is ranked 62nd, while Mojave is ranked 82nd). As for Canyon Springs, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Chaparral at 5:00 p.m. on January 24th. Chaparral comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 22 points in their last ten games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
