Lennard has gone 9-1 against East Bay recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Lennard Longhorns will venture away from home to face off against the East Bay Indians at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Thursday, Lennard narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Palmetto 3-1.
Myles Wagner looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
At the plate, Lennard saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Peyton Newman, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. That run was Newman's first of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask East Bay). Everything went their way against Blake on Saturday as East Bay made off with a 17-7 victory. The win continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Yellow Jackets: they've now won seven in a row.
Cameron Cook was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one triple and one run.
In other pitching news, John Viane looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off only one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.
Back at the plate, Connor Gavigan was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeffrey Diab, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.
East Bay lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since the start of last season.
East Bay's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Lennard, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Lennard has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like East Bay struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Lennard was able to grind out a solid victory over East Bay when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 11-7. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lennard since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
