The Tolono Unity Rockets will square off against the Mt. Carmel Golden Aces at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Tolono Unity's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points in their last six contests.
Tolono Unity is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They enjoyed a cozy 55-37 win over Mt. Vernon on Friday. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Rockets' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 105th, while the Rams are ranked 259th).

Tolono Unity's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dane Eisenmenger, who threw for 407 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 15.1 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 48 yards and a pair of TDs. The dominant performance also gave Eisenmenger a new career-high in rushing touchdowns (two). Tolono Unity's leading receiver Tre Hoggard was Eisenmenger's top target yet again, picking up 240 receiving yards and three scores.
Meanwhile, Mt. Carmel was fully in charge on Friday, breezing past Lawrenceville 42-15. The result was nothing new for the Golden Aces, who have now won five matchups by 21 points or more so far this season.
Tolono Unity better keep an eye on Elliott Acree. He was instrumental in Mt. Carmel's win, rushing for 216 yards and three TDs while picking up 11.4 yards per carry. With that strong performance, Acree is now averaging an impressive 100.6 rushing yards per game. River Deisher helped out on the ground, rushing for 104 yards and a rushing touchdown.
Mt. Carmel was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 409 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 156 rushing yards in eight consecutive games.
Tolono Unity pushed their record up to 8-1 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 46.4 points over those games. As for Mt. Carmel, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Saturday's contest might be decided on the ground. Tolono Unity has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 177.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Mt. Carmel struggles in that department as they've been averaging 272.7 rushing yards. There's a good chance Saturday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Tolono Unity couldn't quite get it done against Mt. Carmel in their previous matchup back in November of 2023 as they fell 56-46. Can the Rockets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
