Gilbert has been on the road for six straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Campo Verde Coyotes at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Gilbert knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matchups -- so hopefully Campo Verde likes a good challenge.
Gilbert has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matches by 44 points or more this season. They blew past Skyline 97-28 on the road. Given Gilbert's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked sixth, while Skyline is ranked 137th), the result on Thursday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meisha Caserio was her usual excellent self, scoring 21 points along with 6 assists. The matchup was her sixth in a row with at least ten points. Aspen McClees was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with 8 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Campo Verde had to kick off their season on the road last Saturday, but they showed no ill effects. They came out on top against Desert Ridge by a score of 51-44.
Campo Verde can attribute much of their success to Kelsey Watts, who scored 23 points along with 9 rebounds and 7 steals. Another player making a difference was Kdynce Parks, who scored 13 points.
Their wins bumped Gilbert to 6-0 and Skyline to 1-4.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as Gilbert and Campo Verde are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Gilbert hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 73.3 points per game. However, it's not like Campo Verde struggles in that department as they've been averaging 51 per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run up the score up higher Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other basketball content.
Gilbert came out on top in a nail-biter against Campo Verde in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, sneaking past 51-49. Does Gilbert have another victory up their sleeve, or will Campo Verde turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
