After three games on the road, Piqua is heading back home. They will be home for the holidays to greet the Fairborn Skyhawks at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Tuesday, Piqua came up short against West Carrollton and fell 43-34.
Drake Owen was Piqua's leading scorer, having posted eight points.
Isaiah Martin held things down on the boards with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Fairborn lost to Butler at home by a decisive 47-30 margin on Tuesday. Fairborn has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Fairborn got a solid performance out of Taiyou Williams, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and three steals. Williams scored a full 30% of Fairborn's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. William Perry was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Piqua's loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 1-3. As for Fairborn, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Piqua have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 27.2 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Fairborn struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 27.3 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Piqua beat Fairborn 75-64 when the teams last played back in February. Will Piqua repeat their success, or does Fairborn have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
