Given Hertford County's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 116th, while Holmes is ranked 416th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Hertford County's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tyrone Ruffin Jr., who scored 26 points along with nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ruffin Jr. has scored all season. Jayden Robinson was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds.
The win makes it two in a row for Hertford County and bumps their season record up to 12-4. As for Holmes, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season.
Hertford County won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Northampton County at 6:00 p.m. on January 27th. Northampton County has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 917 points over their last 13 games. As for Holmes, they will be playing at home against Northeastern at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
