Basketball Recap: Fleetwood Falls Despite Big Games from Caden Ryan and Mason Senna

Fleetwood was the 55-46 winner over Antietam when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Fleetwood Tigers took a 51-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Antietam Mountaineers. While the Tigers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Mountaineers 18-13 in the first quarter.

Fleetwood's loss on Wednesday came despite strong showings from Mason Senna and Caden Ryan. Senna went 7 for 11 on his way to 17 points along with seven boards and six steals, while Ryan went 6 of 11 en route to 13 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. The game was Senna's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kyle Vorse, who posted nine points.

Even though they lost, Fleetwood smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Antietam only pulled down four offensive boards.

Antietam's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was AJ Scheifley, who earned 14 points and six boards. Julious Williams was another key player, dropping a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.

Fleetwood's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Antietam, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-7.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Fleetwood Tigers duke it out with the Schuylkill Valley Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Antietam, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Oley Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Antietam is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.9 points per game this season.
