The Willow Canyon Wildcats came tearing into Wednesday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 37.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They snuck past Kellis with a 55-51 win. For Willow Canyon, this counts as revenge for the 62-52 loss Kellis walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January.
Despite the loss, Kellis saw an underclassman step up: Nevaeh Limbacher dropped a double-double on 21 points and 14 rebounds. Those 21 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Mia Wolfe, who scored 16 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Willow Canyon's win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.2 points per game. As for Kellis, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Willow Canyon won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Desert Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on December 21st. Desert Mountain is coming into the match on a six-game losing streak. Kellis will be home for the holidays to greet Centennial at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Centennial has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
