Plainview's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Riley Miller, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 13 rebounds, and Pressley Alexander, who posted eight points along with six boards and three steals. Miller is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in each of the last five games she's played dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, Elgin/Pope John put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 57-30 victory over Neligh-Oakdale. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Wolfpack just coasted through the last quarter.
Elgin/Pope John's win came from a few key players Plainview will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Madelyn Kurpgeweit, who shot 46% from the field to rack up 15 points in addition to seven boards and seven steals. Braelyn Martinsen was another key player, putting up 12 points along with six steals and five rebounds.
Elgin/Pope John smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 15 offensive boards every time they've taken the court this season.
Plainview now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Elgin/Pope John, their win bumped their record up to 3-0.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Plainview has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 31 boards per game. However, it's not like Elgin/Pope John struggles in that department as they've been averaging 40.7 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
