Softball Recap: Mccutcheon's Win on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Three

While McCutcheon put up plenty of runs on Saturday, the same can't be said for North Newton. The Mavericks blew past the Spartans 14-0. The result was nothing new for the Mavericks, who have now won six games by eight runs or more so far this season.

The win was the third in a row for McCutcheon, bringing their record up to 9-9. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for North Newton, the defeat snapped their winning streak at ten games and leaves them with a 13-2-1 record.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. McCutcheon will challenge Kankakee Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for North Newton, they will square off against Washington Township at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Senators have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.87 runs per game on average), something the Spartans will no doubt try to take advantage of.
