Alexa Contreras was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off three home runs, seven RBI, and four runs while going 3-for-3. Those three home runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Kimball let Saige Dodds and Kaeliana DePerio run wild. Dodds went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one double, while DePerio went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. What's more, DePerio posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in March. Briez Dodds was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Kimball kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Lodi beat Lincoln 5-2 on Tuesday. The Flames haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Ashlyn Jubrey made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out 16 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Jubrey was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Allison Frank, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Kimball's win bumped their record up to 13-4. As for Lodi, their victory bumped their record up to 12-5.
Kimball's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's game. The Jaguars have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.5 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Lodi, though, as they've been averaging only 0.8 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Kimball continue to outrun the ball?
