Old Orchard Beach extended their winning streak to three on Wednesday, bumping their season record up to 3-0 in the process. Everything went their way against the Traip Rangers as they made off with a 14-5 victory. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Seagulls also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2024.
Colby Salamacha made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). Salamacha was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
In other batting news, Trot Moody was incredible, going 1-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Moody is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least two every time he's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Daniel Cashman, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
As for Traip, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss they have suffered against Old Orchard Beach since May 6, 2021.
Like Old Orchard Beach, Traip also got a great game from a two-way player: Chris Balano. He struck out seven batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off one hit. Balano was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one run.
Balano wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Dylan D'Auteuil, who went 1-for-4 with one double and one RBI. Jack Downs was another, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Coming up, Old Orchard Beach will venture away from home to face off against St. Dominic at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Traip, they will welcome Waynflete at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
