The Wingfield Falcons are on the road again on Friday and plays the Lanier Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. on February 9th. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
After soaring to 58 points the game before, Wingfield were a bit more limited in their contest on Tuesday. They were dealt a 54-21 defeat at the hands of Raymond. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Wingfield in their matchups with Raymond: they've now lost seven in a row.
Wingfield's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Martavius Bennett, who scored seven points, and Orenthal Claiborne who scored four points.
Meanwhile, Lanier was just a bucket shy of victory on Tuesday and fell 50-49 to McComb. Lanier has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Wingfield's loss dropped their record down to 2-22. As for Lanier, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-15 record this season.
Wingfield came up short against Lanier when the teams last played back in January, falling 47-41. Can Wingfield avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
