Glenn extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 3-6. They lost 17-6 to the Oak Grove Grizzlies. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Bobcats, who until this contest were averaging 3.78 runs allowed.
Glenn saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addyson Irving, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run was Irving's first of the season. Another was Ryleigh Stewart, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
As for Oak Grove, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. Considering they have won six games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
On Oak Grove's side, Hanauer Fulk made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Those seven strikeouts gave Fulk a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Eleanor Potter, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and two triples. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. Chloe Smith was another key player, going 4-for-6 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI.
Looking ahead, Glenn will host East Surry at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Oak Grove, they are taking a road trip to take on North Davidson at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Black Knights' pitching crew has only allowed 1.8 runs per game this season, so the Grizzlies' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
