Greeneville added to the longest winning streak in AA District 2 this week by beating Signal Mountain, 47-20. The victory was the 10th in a row for the Green Devils.
Greeneville led the league in scoring this week by notching 47 points on the Eagles.
Cumberland Gap's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Dakota Brock threw for 77 and 1 touchdown and Sterling Provins had 50 yards receiving. On the ground Brock chipped in 158 yards. Chase Smith helped Cumberland Gap's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 27 yards.
Brock was the best running back in the league this week. In 28 carries, he ran for 158 yards as the Panthers lost to Scott. Teammate Brandon Balley added to the ground attack by rushing for 68 yards.
Cumberland Gap's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Panthers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Brock has thrown for 761 yards and 13 touchdowns this season, while Smith has 18 catches for 250 yards. Brock also leads the league in rushing with 901 yards.
Cumberland Gap's Brock is a mere 99 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season. In 168 carries Brock has put up 901 yards this year.
Two of the top teams in the league will go toe-to-toe this week when Corey Russell's team takes on the Green Devils. The Panthers' offense has scored 185 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while Greeneville has allowed only 60 on the year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Cumberland Gap takes on the Green Devils. As it stands, the Panthers are in sixth, while Greeneville is in first.
