For the first time this season, Chester will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will head out to take on the Fairfield Central Griffins at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Chester is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let North Central get on the board and left with a 10-0 win on Wednesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cyclones.
The team relied heavily on Jakoby Kennedy, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and one RBI. Cory Bland also deserves some recognition as he got his first hits of the season.
Chester always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Central only posted an OBP of .176.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Fairfield Central, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They walked away with a 9-5 victory over Eau Claire on Tuesday.
Landon Morgan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits and racked up seven Ks.
On the hitting side, M Harrison was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with five stolen bases and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Caden Brown, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Chester picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 2-6-1. As for Fairfield Central, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.
Chester was able to grind out a solid win over Fairfield Central in their previous matchup back in March of 2025, winning 4-0. Do the Cyclones have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Griffins turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
