Marin Catholic is a perfect 5-0 against St. Ignatius College Preparatory since April of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. Marin Catholic will face off against St. Ignatius College Preparatory at 4:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
While Wildcats fans will have to keep waiting for their team to come home, they shouldn't be too worried about the road trip considering the result of Wednesday's season opener. They were the clear victor by an 18-2 margin over Sonoma Valley on Wednesday. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.
Malliah Foster made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Foster was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.
In other batting news, Morgan Carlson was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two triples, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Bella Ferrety, who scored four runs while going 4-for-4.
Marin Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .727. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sonoma Valley only posted an OBP of .294.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when St. Ignatius College Preparatory took on Burlingame on Wednesday. St. Ignatius College Preparatory's pitcher stepped up to hand Burlingame an 11-0 shutout. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.
Like Marin Catholic, St. Ignatius College Preparatory also got a great game from a two-way player: Olivia Dollard. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. Dollard was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Julie Galarza, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3. Delilah Berry was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
Marin Catholic was able to grind out a solid win over St. Ignatius College Preparatory in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, winning 4-0. Will Marin Catholic repeat their success, or does St. Ignatius College Preparatory have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
