Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Axtell). They were the clear victor by a 48-27 margin over the Franklin Flyers on Monday. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Flyers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Axtell to victory, but perhaps none more so than Madison Wells, who posted eight points and six rebounds. Those six boards gave Wells a new career-high. Leah Stritt also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.
Despite the loss, Franklin still got an impressive performance from Johanna Haussermann, who scored eight points in addition to ten rebounds and three blocks. Another player making a difference was Audra Goosic, who put up six points.
Axtell's win bumped their record up to 6-16. As for Franklin, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-18.
Axtell didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 67-19 defeat against Elm Creek on the 18th. Franklin does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
