Softball Recap: Edison Extends Home Winning Streak to Five

Edison came out on top against East Brunswick Vo-Tech on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run first inning. The Eagles put the hurt on East Brunswick Vo-Tech with a sharp 11-1 victory. Considering the Eagles have won ten matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Jenna Fugate made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Callie DiBisceglie was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lindsey Yascko, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Edison was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .393 or higher in four consecutive contests.

Edison pushed their record up to 10-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for East Brunswick Vo-Tech, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-6.
