After losing to the New Waverly Bulldogs the last time they met, the Covenant Christian Cougars decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Covenant Christian came out on top in a nail-biter against New Waverly on Tuesday and snuck past 42-39.
Alani Owens continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 22 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 steals. The matchup was her fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Keeley Chaddick, who scored 6 points along with 6 rebounds and 5 steals.
The last time Covenant Christian lost on the road was back last Tuesday. Having now won three straight away games, they've pushed their record up to 2-5. As for New Waverly, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.
Covenant Christian is on the road again on Thursday and play against North Zulch. As for New Waverly, they will square off against Leggett at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday.
