The Oneida Express came tearing into Wednesday's contest with three straight wins dating back to last season (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took down Holland Patent 46-32. That's another feather in the cap for Oneida, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Holland Patent lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Terralyn McLaughlin, who scored six points along with six steals. McLaughlin is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Kirsten Lighthall was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Oneida's victory was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0. As for Holland Patent, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-5-1.
Oneida will be playing in front of their home fans against New Hartford at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. New Hartford comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Holland Patent, they will head out on the road to face off against Adirondack at 1:45 p.m. on Saturday. Adirondack has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 1.
