Basketball Recap: Tell City Takes a Loss

Tell City entered their game against Heritage Hills on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Tell City Marksmen were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 48-47 to the Heritage Hills Patriots. The Marksmen were not able to make up for their loss to the Patriots from their previous meeting back in December of 2023.

Several Marksmen players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ollie Toothman, who went 5 of 10 on her way to 16 points. Toothman is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Reese Ford, who posted eight points and five rebounds.

Leading Heritage Hills to victory were Mayci Litherland and Carlie Still. Litherland put up 17 points and eight rebounds, while Still went 8 of 19 on her way to 20 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. That's the most points Still has posted since back in November of 2023.

Tell City's defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-4. As for Heritage Hills, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-2.

Tell City wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 43-33 loss against Southridge on the 5th. As for Heritage Hills, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 43-37 defeat against Tecumseh on the 5th.
