AA Region VII recap Oct. 16, 2012
DeVonta Wright of Lee Central ran for the longest rushing play in AA Region VII this season against Kingstree last week. Wright's team bested the Jaguars as he sprinted for 80 yards on the play and finished with 187 in all.
Lee Central took down Kingstree 76-28 last week, the largest margin of any game. T'Darius Gregg threw for 99 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 106 yards in the win.
Baron Turner's team's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Juwan Thomas helped Lee Central's passing attack out by catching one ball for 44 yards.
Chrishawn Grayson was the best wideout in the league this week as the Stallions beat Reginald Jamison's team. Grayson tallied one reception for 55 yards.
Lake Marion's Deriante Jenkins and Mike Williams have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Jenkins has thrown for 2053 yards this season, while Williams, a 6-foot-5 receiver, has 39 catches for 981 yards. Andrews's Jaleel Filmore leads the league in rushing yards with 846.
The Gators' Williams is only 19 receiving yards away from breaking 1,000 receiving yards this season as he enters this week's game against the the Jaguars.
A big matchup in AA Region VII this week will be when the Yellowjackets take on Timberland. As it stands, Andrews is in fifth, while the Wolves are in first.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Adrian Smith's team takes on Timberland. The Yellowjackets have allowed 212 points this season, while Arthur Craig's team has given up 90. Andrews allowed 35 points last week as it fell to Lake City.
Lee Central led the league in scoring this week after putting up 76 points on Kingstree. Gregg in the win.
