The Calvary Day School Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight loss. They fell to Asheville School (Independent) 56-52. Calvary Day School has struggled against Asheville School (Independent) recently, as their matchup on Saturday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Calvary Day School saw an underclassman step up: Owen Calvert scored 23 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Calvert hasn't dropped below 15points for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Richardson, who scored seven points along with two steals.
Miki Gacic was the offensive standout of the contest as he scored 19 points. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Cedric Kenan, who scored 11 points.
Calvary Day School's defeat dropped their record down to 11-11. As for Asheville School (Independent), their win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-10.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Calvary Day School will take on Forsyth Country Day at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Forsyth Country Day knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 21 matches -- so hopefully Calvary Day School likes a good challenge. As for Asheville School (Independent), they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Christ School at 6:00 p.m. Christ School is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
