The Lake Placid Dragons lost against the Victory Christian Academy Storm back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result  on Friday. Lake Placid was just a bucket shy of victory  and fell  35-34 to Victory Christian Academy. Lake Placid has now  taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
 When it comes to explaining why Lake Placid lost, one person who can't be blamed is  Antranique Felton. Despite the final result, she  dropped  a double-double on 13 points and 20  rebounds. That was a full 38.2% of Lake Placid's points, marking the third time in a row she's  earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of  Kalianna Crenshaw, who  scored five points along with six  rebounds.
  Bianca Barroso continued  her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Victory Christian Academy,  dropping  a double-double on 17 points and 11  rebounds. Barroso continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's  played. Another player making a difference was  Elsie Hess, who  scored seven points along with ten  rebounds and five  steals.
 Lake Placid's defeat was  their third straight on the road, which  bumped their record down to 6-6. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the  losses came by an average of only 1.67 points. As for Victory Christian Academy, their win bumped their record up to 11-5.
 Both  squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lake Placid will  face off against Avon Park at 6:00  p.m.  on Friday. Avon Park is coming into the  game on a six-game losing streak. As for Victory Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to  square off against  Santa Fe Catholic at 6:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. Santa Fe Catholic will have to bring their A-game into this one,  as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 647th, while Victory Christian Academy is ranked 286th).
