The Osmond/Randolph Hawks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight loss. They took a 47-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of Winside. Osmond/Randolph was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Winside apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Osmond/Randolph lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Hunter Buchanan, who scored ten points along with five assists. Another player making a difference was Logan Lienemann, who scored nine points.
Winside found their leader in underclassman Gavin Schutt, who scored 20 points along with four steals. That's the first time this season that Schutt scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Offner, who scored six points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Osmond/Randolph dropped their record down to 3-10 with that loss, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Winside, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 5-7 record this season.
Osmond/Randolph will be playing in front of their home fans against Laurel-Concord-Coleridge at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Laurel-Concord-Coleridge focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 last Saturday. As for Winside, they will head out on the road to take on Walthill at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Walthill presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Winside in Nebraska (Walthill is ranked 78th, while Winside is ranked 236th).
